Education Welfare Officers

The role of the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) is to ensure that every child and young person from the age of 6 to 16 receives an education.  The Educational Welfare Officer works with those children and young people whose education is affected by irregular attendance from school by working closely with the young person, parents, schools and other agencies to find solutions to improve their attendance. The Educational Welfare Officer also works with children who are expelled from school or cannot find a school place.
